Rite of Passage in other Cultures.

In my own faith of Christianity, Confirmation is considered the rite of passage into religious maturity. It is one of the Seven Sacraments. Jewish boys reach Bar Mitzvah when they turn 13. They are recognized as adults after this and are responsible to follow the Jewish commandments and laws. On the day of their Bar Mitzvah, the boys go to church and read out of their holy book. After that they have a party and are considered a man. In Africa, when a girl menstruates they are sent away to learn about womanhood. This is way different from our culture because girls aren't sent away or considered women the first time they menstruate. There are similarities but also huge differences between our rites of passage and other cultures/countries.

My Biggest Fear

My biggest fear would have to be getting buried alive. This is scary because you would be in a tiny, dark space. The worst part is that I would be going crazy while losing all oxygen. I would also have to say I have a big fear of burning to death. Watching, smelling, and feeling your skin melt would be the worst. Both of those would also result in death unless you are rescued.

Food Commercial

The food commercial I saw this weekend that was most effective was the Jimmy John's fast delivery commercial. It was late at night, and I love JJ's. It made me hungry for the Gargantuan sub. The other part of it that is effective is that it says your food will be delivered fast. No one wants to wait for food when they get hungry. Even typing about this is making me hungry for a sub.

My Personality

Mr. Fulton claims that I am confident. He also says that I'm borderline over-confident. I can handle this description. Skye also claims that I am, "Smartasscious" which is something else I can handle. Smart is in the title, and I just like to joke around. I would like to take the time to thank those two for describing me, and making this assignment very easy for me.

Life Without Sight

Life without sight would be more difficult. You would especially have to use senses like touch, hearing, and smell to find your way around. Blind seeing eye dogs are a way blind people find their way. In places like their house, they can use memory. Most people who are legally blind can actually see things such as shapes, shadows, and sometimes color. It would be very difficult for me, but I know I would have to be more resourceful to get around. No driving and no sports would be the hardest part for me. I would hate not being able to see.

Favorite Motivational Quote

If you can make it through the night, there's a brighter day... -Tupac Shakur

This is my favorite motivational quote because it tells you to keep going. It's an optimistic statement, saying that if you push through the tough times, better things will come. It's easy to give up, but fighting through troubles will make you stronger in the long run. This has affected me by making me never give up, and having a positive outlook on life.

Favorite Commercial

My favorite commercial is the Farmer's Insurance, "Distracted Driving" commercial. It shows things that could actually happen to someone, but they overdramatize everything that happens. In my opinion that makes for a funnier commercial. It puts a twist on things that have caused many car crashes over the years. The Farmers Insurance company always over dramatize their commercials. I think that makes them better. They're more interesting which leads me to pay more attention to them. This commercial is telling you to get car insurance, and to focus on driving. I like the commercial and the message it sends.
